It's also known as solar rock salt, sea salt, or pink salt. Its manufacture is dated back to prehistoric times when it was discovered by early man. Since then, the production of sea salt continues and today it is one of the most popular artificial sources of salt on the planet.

Salt has many uses in different areas of life. Even in today's world, sea salt is still widely used for various purposes such as table salt and even as a fertilizer. Because of the wide range of uses sea salt finds itself in, it is important to know a little bit about the various kinds of sea salt available today. The three main varieties are rock salt (also known as dr. li), and sea salt, and brown sea salt. Each of these varieties is used for a variety of different things.

Refined sea salt contains no trace minerals which makes it useless for any nutritional purposes. I would highly recommend using sea salt on a daily basis as part of an overall healthy diet.

However, the minerals usually found in sea salt are better for our health than those found in table salt and should definitely be used in moderation.

What about the purported health benefits? In a word mixed. Some sea salt is believed to aid in weight loss because it helps increase body metabolism and stimulates bile production.

Other sea salt benefits include improving memory and cognitive ability and slowing down the process of aging. But then again, so what? The only real way to know if sea salt actually has any benefits at all is to get your hands on some and test them out for yourself.
